Favourite Song on Album:

Listen to This Album When You’re:

Looking for innovative hip-hop with impressive beats and rhymes.

Thoughts on Album Cover:

Boring, I really don’t like most of Kendrick’s album covers.

Want to Own on Vinyl?:

For sure.

Final Thoughts:

This is the album that got Kendrick on my radar, I didn’t dig into it much until recently, but I’ve been listening to both The Recipe and Swimming Pools since their release and have been thoroughly impressed with both. I didn’t think that the rest of the album would hold up, but I was proven wrong after one listen through, Good Kid M.A.A.D City is an incredible album showcasing one of the most beloved artist making music today. Kendrick is the new Tupac or Biggie, screw Jay-Z, Lamar owns the mainstream rap scene, and the funny thing is I don’t think many people would disagree with me on that, even non-hip-hop heads.

Favourite Song on Album:

Listen to This Album When You’re:

High. Or just want to listen to someone keeping Hip-Hop/Rap alive.

Thoughts on Album Cover:

I actually really don’t like this cover. Why couldn’t we get something like To Pimp A Butterfly? Or even a screenshot from the HUMBLE. Music Video?

Want to Own on Vinyl?:

I don’t know if it’s the awful cover art, or just the fact that I don’t really think it’d transfer to a record that well, but I have no intention on buying this on vinyl. I’ll just rock it in my car instead.

Final Thoughts:

I’ll admit it, I’m not the biggest Kendrick fan, it’s not because I don’t think he’s talented or anything like that, I guess he just hasn’t grown on me as an artist yet. But DAMN. was a really solid step in the right direction of making him one of my favourites. There are some damn impressive songs on this record, I’m super stoked to have it on my ipod.
