Favourite Song on Album:

Listen to This Album When You’re:

Feeling down and need something to pick you up.

Thoughts on Album Cover:

It’s pretty simplistic, it’s not bad but not my favourite.

Want to Own on Vinyl?:

Yeah!

Final Thoughts:

Look, I’ll square with you, Generationals are not making music that is incredible, it’s not all too original or musically impressive, but damn it if it’s not catchy as all hell. Actor-Caster is such a great album to listen to while going for a walk on a hot sunny day, there’s little else I can picture while listening to the glittery tunes and I guess that’s why I love it so much, it’s simple and happy, and every once in awhile it’s nice to put on something that makes you happy without making you concentrate too much on the actual music itself. I’ve seen these guys live and it wasn’t great, honestly, but man, between headphones these guys are a lot of fun. Generationals aren’t shaking things up or making you stretch much musically, it’s a fun candy coated album for those days you just need something happy on.

Favourite Song on Album:

Listen to This Album When You’re:

Feeling funky and nostalgic.

Thoughts on Album Cover:

Seems a bit before its time, not my favourite but not bad by any means.

Want to Own on Vinyl?:

Oh hell yeah.

Final Thoughts:

I decided to stretch my musical taste this year by slowly working through a list of 1001 Albums to Listen To Before You Die, Talking Heads had a few albums on that list (Including More Songs About Buildings And Food) and I’ve been blown away by how much I love their stuff. Honestly for the most part my music taste doesn’t go earlier than the 90’s, so finding gold in the 70’s is really helping me gain confidence to explore more. More Songs About Buildings And Food is a lot of fun, I can see why so many people love Byrne after hearing what he does with this album.

Listen to This Album When You’re:

Driving with the top down on a hot day.

Thoughts on Album Cover:

Yeah, nothing special, but it does make me think that they musicians are just normal people.

Want to Own on Vinyl?:

Absolutely!

Final Thoughts:

Put On A Light was the first song I heard from these guys and I’m stoked to hear what else they can make. This album is just delightful! Is it original or show-stopping? You know, probably not. But it’s really enjoyable and dammit, I like it! It’s also really chill, I found it really easy to just turn my brain off and let this album do its thing, which is a nice change of pace with some of the other albums I’ve been listening to (Aesop Rock comes to mind). Generationals aren’t anything new, but they’ve perfected their craft and are a great listen for a nice day!
